All services are free to low-income families and individuals, including representation by experienced attorneys and highly qualified legal staff. Current openings are below.

Our headquarters is located at 4223 Center Street in Omaha, Nebraska.

Rural legal clinics take place in Omaha, Grand Island and Lexington, Nebraska. Our rural attorneys and legal service providers also collaborate with partners to build capacity for community-based immigration legal services in Crete and South Sioux City.

Nebraska Immigration Legal Assistance (NILAH) Paralegal 

ILC’s Nebraska Immigration Legal Assistance (NILAH) Paralegal is responsible for processing applications over the telephone from callers applying for non-profit immigration legal assistance from a collaborating immigration legal service provider (ILSP). The NILAH paralegal makes decisions regarding eligibility for service using established guidelines through the use of software, and assists callers by gathering information and directing them to appropriate resources. The NILAH paralegal may, if appropriate, convey to callers legal advice provided by an attorney, and may provide limited advice regarding limited immigration legal matters after obtaining Department of Justice (DOJ) Accreditation.

This is a full-time position initially based out of ILC’s Omaha office, with potential opportunity to work from an ILC satellite office in the future.

Rural Capacity Building Attorney (6 positions available)

The Rural Capacity Building (RCB) Attorney is responsible for the provision of direct legal services to immigrant families in targeted underserved rural Nebraska communities.

The RCB Attorney will work on identifying collaborative community partners to build capacity for the provision of long-term immigration services within the targeted rural communities. This RCB Attorney will work with the RCB program team, the ILC team, community members, and a wide variety of community partners to assist in carrying out the objectives of the program. Key program areas include providing direct immigration legal services to low-income immigrant community members in rural Nebraska; working with rural communities in identifying their local needs for capacity-building; and providing education, advocacy and representation support to facilitate growth toward community identified goals for rural community inclusion.

ILC is seeking candidates to fill multiple RCB Attorney positions in the Grand Island, Scottsbluff, Crete, Columbus, and South Sioux City areas. RCB Attorneys will office at or near those locations. Moderate travel to ILC service areas and throughout the state will be required.

The Eastern Rural Capacity Building (RCB) Supervising Attorney will work with the Rural Capacity Building program team, the ILC team, community members, and a wide variety of community partners to carry out the objectives of the program. Key program areas include providing direct immigration legal services to low-income immigrant community members in rural Nebraska; working with rural communities in identifying their local needs for capacity-building; and providing education, advocacy and representation support to facilitate growth toward community identified goals for rural community inclusion.

This is a full-time position will be based in Omaha, Nebraska. This position will oversee staff attorneys working out of Columbus, Nebraska City, Crete and South Sioux City Regular travel to ILC sites within the Eastern RCB area and periodic travel throughout the state of Nebraska is required.
